Arrive in Lima. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Lima.
Early morning visit to the Santa Eulalia area. During these days, we will explore the canyon to photograph species such as the Andean Tinamou, Peruvian Sheartail, Bronze-tailed Comet, Black Metaltail, Rufous-breasted Warbling Finch, Great Inca-Finch, and more. Overnight stay will be at a hotel.
Drive through Ticklio bogs for photography opportunities of the Puna Tinamou, Black-breasted Hillstar, Olivaceous Thornbill, Diademed Sandpiper-Plover, Gray-bellied Seedsnipe, Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, and many others. Overnight stay will be at a lodge.
Morning flight to Cusco. Drive through the lakes near Cusco, ideal for photographing endemic species such as the Bearded Mountaineer, Giant Hummingbird, Streak-fronted Thornbird, Rusty-fronted Canastero, Blue-and-yellow Tanager, Rusty and Black-throated Flowerpiercer, Yellow-winged Blackbird, and others.
Visit the Cloud Forest Reserve - a top site for exploring the lush cloud forest ecosystem. Capture photos of species like the Scaled Metaltail, Gould's Inca, Violet-throated Starfrontlet, Amethyst-throated Sunangel, and a variety of tanagers, toucans, and antpittas. Overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Drive to Ollantaytambo. Photo opportunities in gardens with flowers attracting species such as the Bearded Mountaineer, White-bellied Hummingbird, Giant Hummingbird, White-tufted Sunbeam, Shining Sunbeam, Great Sapphirewing, and more.
Birding in one of the best spots in the Cusco region, focusing on species such as the Scaled Metaltail, Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Puna Thistletail, Junin Canastero, and various tanagers and finches.
Early morning train to Machu Picchu - the Lost City of the Incas. Explore the ruins and photograph endemic species like the Green-and-White Hummingbird, Gould’s Inca, Masked Fruiteater, Blue-banded Toucanet, and others. Return to Cusco in the evening.
Morning birding near Machu Picchu, focusing on the Highland Motmot, Speckle-faced Parrot, Dusky-green Oropendola, and other species. Evening flight back to Lima. Overnight stay will be near the airport.
Morning flight to Tarapoto. Check-in at a hotel and have lunch. Visit the Tunnel, a lower montane evergreen forest with species like the Black-and-White Hawk-Eagle, Orange-breasted Falcon, and a variety of hummingbirds and tanagers.
Visit Koepke's Hermit reserve and feeders to see the Cobalt-winged Parakeet, Curl-crested Aracari, and other species. Overnight stay will be in a hotel.
Drive to Moyobamba for birding and photographing hummingbirds and other birds like the Roset-crowned Crake, Amethyst Woodstar, and various tanagers and manakins.
Visit the Arena Blancas reserve and spend the day at hummingbird feeders observing species such as the Blue-fronted Lancebill, Green Hermit, Rufous-crested Coquette, and others.
Full-day experience at the feeders of the National reserve Fundo Alto Nieva, looking for species lie the Greenish Puffleg, Royal Sunangel, and Yellow-scarfed Tanager. Overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Early drive to the Abra Patricia reserve for photography opportunities of species including the Emerald-bellied Puffleg, Amethyst-throated Sunangel, and various antpittas and tyrants. Overnight stay will be in the lodge.
Travel to the Leymebamba Chachapoyas area for birding, focusing on species like the Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan and Andean Condor. Visit feeders for hummingbirds such as the Purple-throated Sunangel and Sword-billed Hummingbird.
Explore the Abra Barro Negro, a high mountain pass with opportunities to see Coppery Metaltails, mixed species tanager flocks, and other specialties.
Visit feeders for the Marvelous Spatuletail, Speckle-faced Parrot, and a variety of hummingbirds and tanagers. Overnight stay will be in a hotel.
Drive to Yacumama for bird photography, including the Ring Kingfisher, Green Kingfisher, and others.
Drive to Tarapoto for a flight to Lima, with an evening/night flight home.
